Hi! I'm Jennifer.

I can be your writer + editor + marketer + scientist in one.

About Me

In a previous chapter of my career, I was a bench scientist. I earned a Ph.D. in microbiology from the University of Georgia and completed a postdoc studying antimicrobial resistance at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center / Harvard Medical School. My bacterium of choice: Helicobacter pylori.

Then in 2016, I started a microbiology blog. I discovered the joy of transforming scientific complexities into easily digestible stories for science-curious audiences. This passion project launched me into a written exploration across life sciences. CRISPR, neuroscience, marine biology, and developmental biology became my new best friends. And my latest scientific curiosities? Bioprocessing and drug formulations.

I’ve managed blogs, written web articles for academic societies and companies, created press releases summarizing recently published research, repurposed webinars and PDFs into search engine optimized technical articles, built eBooks, sent company newsletters to thousands, written video scripts, and managed company social media accounts. (To see specific examples, head over to my services pages: content marketing, editing, and science writing.)

If I’m not writing, I “microbe” in the kitchen working on a new batch of yogurt or sourdough bread, or help my dog Song live her best life.

Why Work With Me?

To put it simply, when you hire me, you get a writer, editor, marketer, and scientist all at once.

  • Writer:  I’m experienced in writing content for different audiences from the super technical to popsci.
  • Editor: I’ve served as blog editor, manuscript editor, and video script editor.
  • Marketer: I’ve held generalist and specialist roles in marketing departments.
  • Scientist: I have a Ph.D. in microbiology. I can easily apply my “scientist hat” to understand and convey different topic areas.

My writing is clear, engaging, and reader-friendly. I can follow your style guide, learn your brand’s voice, and tailor content for your audience. I’m also meticulous and deliver on time.
